August 15, 1961: The Red Sox defeat the Cleveland Indians 8-0 before a “crowd” of 5,551 in Cleveland; the Red Sox offense is led by third baseman Frank Malzone who goes 5-5 with two home runs and drives in three runs as pitcher Gene Conley, who has just finished his third season with the Boston Celtics, shuts out the Indians, and adds a home run of his own.
