RIP
So very unusual 11 out of 12 died before 70 and it is very sad. Everyone always enjoyed “Boomer”
I’m not sure anyone played the game with more exuberance and joy than “Boomer”. It was his adroitness with a glove in his hand that taught me to watch and appreciate baseball defense and he also hit one of the longest home runs I ever saw at Fenway!
He holds a significant place in Red Sox history as their first black man to be named an All Star!
Gone way too soon, thanks and rest easy big fella, you were a delight!
I never realized just how many of those guys died so young. Six age 57 or younger — so sad. Almost feels like a curse. It is very nice of you to remember them this way, Herb. The site looks great!
