December 16, 1964: The Red Sox announce that 1965 will be their last year of spring training in Scottsdale, AZ, ending a seven year relationship with the city; the Red Sox will shift their spring training headquarters to Winter Haven in central FL, in 1966 and they will remain in “The Have” through 1991, before moving to Fort Myers, FL.
