August 18, 1967: Tony Conigliaro is struck on the left cheekbone by a Jack Hamilton fast ball and is carried unconscious from the field at Fenway Park; Tony C, who had 20 home runs at the time, will miss the rest of 1967 and all of 1968, but despite the tragedy, the Red Sox win 3-2 as Tony’s close friend Rico Petrocelli drives in two runs and scores the other.
