July 1, 1955: Red Sox left-hander “Marvelous” Mel Parnell holds the Yankees to four hits and he shuts out the New Yorkers 2-0 before a crowd of 16,817 at Fenway Park; the win gives Parnell, who would go on to win the most games (123) of any left-handed pitcher in Red Sox history, his 100th victory with Boston joining Cy Young, Joe Wood, Lefty Grove and Joe Dobson.
