June 23, 1981: The Red Sox, the Pawtucket Red Sox that is, win “the longest game,” which started on April 19, and finished 65 days later, by a score of 3-2 in 33 innings; the game, which originally lasted 8 hours and 7 minutes and was suspended at 4:08 am, took only 18 minutes to complete and the winning run was scored by future Red Sox second baseman Marty Barrett.
