June 17, 1960: Ted Williams hits his 500th home run and his two-run homer gives the Red Sox a 3-1 win over the Cleveland Indians with the victory going to right-hander Frank Sullivan who struck out 12 Indians; Williams becomes only the fourth player in MLB history to hit 500 or more homers, joining Babe Ruth, Jimmie Foxx and Mel Ott in this exclusive club.
