June 14, 1952: Boston Braves left-handed pitcher Warren Spahn ties a National League record with 18 strikeouts as the Braves lose 3-1 to the Chicago Cubs in 15 innings; Spahn, who hit a homer for the Braves only run, would go on to win 363 games during his 21-year career to establish the MLB record for left-handed pitchers and he was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1973.
