May 16, 1954: Ted Williams returns to the lineup after breaking his collarbone in spring training and goes 3-4 in the first game of a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers and 5-5, including a double and two home runs in the nightcap; despite Ted’s seven RBI, the Red Sox lose both ends of the doubleheader, falling 8.5 games out of first place.
