April 29, 1986: Pitcher Roger Clemens establishes a major league record by striking out 20 Seattle Mariners in a game won by the Red Sox at Fenway Park before a crowd of only 13,414; Clemens, who would go on to win the American League MVP and Cy Young Award after going 24-4 for the season and leading the Red Sox to the World Series, threw 138 pitches, 97 for strikes.
