April 11, 1917: Left-handed pitcher Babe Ruth holds the Yankees to three hits as the Red Sox defeat the New Yorkers 10-3 on Opening Day at Fenway Park; Ruth goes on to have an outstanding season on the mound, winning 24 games for the Red Sox in 1917, and his 35 complete games would lead all American League pitchers that season.
