March 21, 1938: The Boston Red Sox announced at their Sarasota, FL, spring training camp that Ted Williams has been optioned to Triple-A Minneapolis for the 1938 season; the brash Williams tells the three regular Red Sox outfielders, “I’ll be back and before long I will be making more money than the three of you put together.”
