This Day in History: 2000-03-09

March 9, 1981: Red Sox All-Star catcher Carlton Fisk signs a contract with the Chicago White Sox after being declared a free agent when the Red Sox fail to deliver a 1981 contract in accordance with MLB’s Basic Agreement; Fisk will go on to play 13 years with the White Sox following his 11 years with Boston and he will be elected to baseball’s Hall of Fame in 2000.
