February 22, 1992: Red Sox first baseman Carlos Quintana, who is scheduled to be the teams starting first baseman after hitting .295 in 1991, breaks his left arm and right toe in an automobile accident in Caracas, Venezuela; Quintana will miss the entire 1992 season and play just one more season for the club in 1993, batting only .244 with one home run in 101 games.
