February 21, 1959: Red Sox infielder Pumpsie Green is denied accommodations at the team’s spring training hotel in Scottsdale, AZ; Green, who would become the clubs first African American player in July 1959, is housed separately in a hotel in Phoenix and provided with a car so he can commute to the Red Sox spring training facility in Scottsdale.
