January 27, 1994: The Boston Red Sox announce that Dan Duquette, a native of Dalton, MA, and most recently GM of the Montreal Expos, is hired to succeed Lou Gorman as GM of the club; Duquette will serve in this post for 8 seasons before being dismissed by the Red Sox in spring training 2002, and he will resurface as GM of the Orioles in 2012.
