January 8, 1991: Former Red Sox pitcher Ferguson Jenkins, who pitched for Boston in 1976 and 1977, is elected the National Baseball Hall of Fame; Jenkins, who won 22 games during his two seasons in Boston, was a charter member of the “Buffalo Heads,” which included Rick Wise, Jim Willoughby, and Bernie Carbo, a group that drove manager Don Zimmer to distraction.
