This Day in History: 2000-12-15

December 15, 1960: In what Red Sox pitcher Frank Sullivan termed “the biggest trade in baseball history” the 6’7″ Sullivan was traded to the Philadelphia Phils for 6’9″ pitcher Gene Conley; Conley had played for the Boston Braves and he was a back-up forward for the Boston Celtics, so the Red Sox became his third Boston professional team.
