December 13, 2003: The Red Sox moved to fill a void that kept them from the 2003 World Series by signing free-agent closer Keith Foulke who had led the AL in saves the previous season; Foulke proved that he was the answer by saving an AL-best 43 games during the 2004 regular season, and he was on the mound to finish all four World Series victories.
