This Day in History: 2000-12-06

December 6, 1982: The Red Sox trade third baseman Carney Lansford and outfielder Gary Hancock to the Athletics for centerfielder Tony Armas and catcher Jeff Newman; Armas will go on to play four seasons in Boston and contribute to a 1986 AL pennant while Lansford was ably replaced by future Hall-of-Famer Wade Boggs.
