November 22, 1957: Slugger Ted Williams finishes second to The Yankees’ Mickey Mantle in the American League MVP voting despite hitting .388, hammering 38 home runs, while leading the AL in on base average and slugging average; one writer ranked Ted ninth and another tenth, depriving Williams of the MVP Award that most observors believed he deserved.
