November 16, 1979: Future Hall of Famer and long-time member of Cincinnati’s Big Red Machine, Tony Perez is signed by the Boston Red Sox (1980-1982) as a free agent and in 1980 he hit 25 home runs with 105 RBI; during his three seasons with the Red Sox, Perez will play first base in 195 games and appear as the DH in 117 games.
