July 9, 1946: In the first All-Star game ever played at Fenway Park, Ted Williams’ two home runs lead the American League to a 12-0 blowout of the National League; eight members of the Red Sox are selected as All-Stars, and Williams delights Sox fans with a home run into the bullpen on Rip Sewell’s “eephus pitch” which rose to 30 feet before reaching home.
