June 22, 1982: Red Sox rookie Wade Boggs makes his first MLB home run count with an 11th inning walk-off for a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park; Boggs, who will compile a .338 batting average during 11 seasons with Boston, becomes the Sox regular third baseman the next day when Carney Lansford sprains his ankle trying for an inside-the-park home run.
