May 21, 1954: Red Sox pitcher Frank Sullivan makes his first major league start before 30,019 fans at Yankee Stadium and pitches a complete game in a 6-3 Red Sox win; Sullivan’s mound opponent was future Hall of Famer Whitey Ford, but Sullivan limits the Yankees to seven hits, striking out Mickey Mantle in his first three at-bats.
