May 12, 1941: The Boston Bees formally change their name back to the Boston Braves after adopting the name Bees in 1936 based on a vote of Boston fans; the team had been known as the Boston Braves since 1912, following the names Red Stockings, Beaneaters, Rustlers, and Doves as the team searched for an identity.
