February 28, 2002: On the first full day that the John Henry Group owns the Boston Red Sox the club terminates the services of General Manager Dan Duquette; the club names long-time assistant Mike Port as the interim GM, and Port is assisted by two young front office employees: Theo Epstein and Ben Cherrington.
