January 10, 1950: When George Susce, a top pitching prospect, signs with the Boston Red Sox, his father of the same name is fired as a coach by the Cleveland Indians; the senior Susce is hired by the Red Sox to manage in the minors and he serves as a coach for Boston from late-1950 through 1954, while the junior Susce pitched for the Red Sox from 1955 through 1958.
